My Journey with Thermomix ;)

Started from a total non cook person, I may be in my late 30s now but previously I really cannot cook at all! I still live with my parents and my dad is a cook, my mum usually cooks at home. It's a blessing but I just cannot cook. Haha.... For 2 years when I live on my own in New Zealand (was lucky first 8 months where my lovely cousin & hubby fed me well), Then after when I moved out to live on my own, I have no choice but cook for myself. I started my own cooking only at 31 years old! Not too late, eh? :) Bad news is... I was working in a promotional company and yes, we do get lots of samples home and then I learn to depend on lots of ready product, i.e. processed food. Did mostly oven cooking and also microwave. Bought lots of microwaveable wares too. Cooking rice in microwave, grilling patties and eggs in microwave, baking cake in microwave, even burnt my microwaveable wares with anchovies!

When I got back to Malaysia, reality hits me. A close friend was diagnosed with cancer stage 3, the next a year plus nearly two years went to final stage and she's gone now. Scary as it is, especially turning myself from a non cook to a cook, cooking for someone who will be constantly losing appetite. What a challenge! I constantly reading up kids menus, for the colours and also for healthy food. Then came lots of friends with lots of restriction of no to this and no to that. Then I stopped using microwave for good. And mainly cook with Thermomix plus some stove cooking. I then realised the importance of clean eating..

Clean eating actually helps me lose weight.. Check my other post on this here.

Then after years of cooking with Thermomix, I become fanatic. A bit over the board! Kind of paranoid sometimes if I don't get to cook with it. I realised I have cooked more than 3000 dishes over and still counting for the past 2 years when I try to re-organise my FB page early this year in 2014.

I never know I actually love cooking. All this while, I thought I only love eating! & I always eat like a horse and worse now! Learning more on type of food to eat or cook helps, otherwise I can be a big fat Eddi, not that I am slim now, but at least I am not at my fattest with the way I eat! ^_^

Next came the time to challenge myself further into competing for any upcoming contest organised by company :)

The first challenge.. For SuperChef competition from March 2014 - July 2014

 May 2014 - Mom's Day - Mix With Us

This was unrelated to cooking but because of cooking and selling Thermomix, I am seeing more people, I used to have stage fright and now I got over it, even appeared in TVC (TV commercial ad), ventured into Viral Videos for different product and even in Webdrama! I am now an entertainer! LOL! And I seriously am enjoying it. You should come to see one of my demos too :)

Click here to watch the ad. Short 15 secs ad, 2 different sets, shot in 4 full days, under hot sun, all turned tanned dark, but we sure had loads of fun!
Watch my very first WebDrama as the mummy for gorgeous Megan Tan. When I get the role, I have to ask, how old is my daughter? 20s... Ok.. Then how old am I supposed to be? 40s, ok! But I think I was made to look 50s or 60s! Hahaha.. Had loads of fun to be sharing the same scene with all the experienced young seniors :)

Short WebDrama ---> U-Kafetiam
Behind the Scene ---> BTS Auntie Sally

At times we have cooking classes.. Here's Children Cooking Class in 31st May 2014:

Over the years, many exciting rewards. Stay with us and many more gains for you... lots & lots of fun games, challenges & many more genuine lovely friends too :)

Company organised Super Chef championship.. Out of fun.. I joined and got myself a First Runner Up in July 2014.. Thanks to all my supporters and fans out there for all your supports, else I would not have gone that far.. to final! Had loads of great fun. All who had requested some feast from me.. Come come.. let's do it!

In 17th Aug 2014, appeared in National paper..  Check here: NST

I
In between SuperChef championship, I tried my luck at another cooking competition but didn't get into final. Catch up with Chef Wan since he was the judge of the day. Lots of great tips learnt from him. Nice chappy guy, lots of passion, schedule packed yet super high energy ;)
\
Reinvited during the Semi Final - Final for SuperChef - Desserts competition on 15th Dec 2014 to share a dessert recipe and I did Chocolate Chips cookies in conjuction with Christmas season :)

Basic guidelines for new user

One of the first thing we all do is recipes needing more recipes, that was what I was googling too... but to be frank, as a Consultant/ Advisor, when I sold a new unit to family and friend who is bringing to their family in out of country, my first worry is whether they will know how to operate.

My very first experience, I was faced with Thermomix a few days before I even seen someone using it or demonstrate.. I was given the manual book by my dear late friend. She got it after she had surgery for her cancer. I asked how to use? She said just close the lid and I kept asking how and she gave me the manual and I remembered I did a few juices. That's all I know.

I get to have my time off to head home to my own family normally on weekends or sometimes fortnightly. The day I saw Thermomix's demo was the day I had love at first sight. We all did the same search: Typed all sorts Thermomix Malaysia, Thermomix where to buy, cheapest Thermomix in Malaysia, any discount for Thermomix Malaysia, Thermomix Malaysia deal, Thermomix best deal, Thermomix best offer!

Then I waited anxiously for my unit to arrive. Then after I can't quite recall flipping cookbook.. I just hate books, since school days. My way of revising was a friend reading to me. As I ask her question, it benefited her too. In this IT era, it's a life saving moment for me, physical books will make me fall asleep! Virtual books won't

I searched for a few links for recipes and saved in my mailbox which was saved in my Facebook Page for the use of others too. There were a lot of sources, I chose a few which I found useful😋👍

Can't find it on my phone though.. Will update this when I get home. (done)

Next I found this great guidelines:

Thermomix may be the Rolls Royce of blenders but we do need to know the limit too. Pulverize caster sugar into
icing sugar in 2secs-1minute (depending on the amount added), maximum capacity at a time was 300g, having 2kg of sugar and try to pulverize say 9minutes, won't work. It's faster to get it done in batches. Same experience I had in office when I was trying to demonstrate how to make easy Milo sorbet. Being thoughtful, wanted to feed more to everyone, I doubled the ice cubes from 500g to 1kg! And sure enough, didn't work. Boss came up and explained, sometimes you may think bosses know only the theories never expect them to actually do apply the theories in practical too, perhaps this boss has been secretly using at home too, well, who won't fall in love with this chef best loved gadget? ;)

Next, I self video-ed (pardon me if the video was lousy, did it impromptu just for people who has never touch or seen any demo, useful to some who forgotten how to start to use too ;)
1st video

2nd video

Then 2 years later, I thought some might want to hear it in Chinese version plus a bit of tips & I recorded again in Chinese....
3rd video:

Next, once you know how to operate or start your Robotic German Maid, Thermomix😁, you need to start doing your homework at:

Clearer PDF version (need to join our group - mostly Chinese words though.. If you can't read or write Chinese like me..well I learn when I was 19 in my uni..just use Google Translate, super useful)

Once you know and get the hands on with your Thermomix then it's time to explore with more recipes. Click here and search and happy cooking!

To wear or not to wear...UNIFORM

Like many other countries in the world, our team is growing and we have a lot of people from different backgrounds.
Today, there is a major discussion on whether or not to wear a uniform.
Some may felt disguise with wearing clothes not to their liking, myself included! Can you imagine I used to wear different working clothes everyday for at least 2-3 months. Yes, 60 different attire before I start repeating my clothes ;)  I love colours. Even when I was working in New Zealand, most people wear dark coloured clothing. Me for one will always go for colours.
I know some of you think that we are doing a free walking advertisement for company, I shared the same thoughts. Over time, I realised that I am actually advertising myself and proud of wearing the T shirt ♡. In fact feeling really awkward not to. I guess everything we do, needs habit. Once you get used to it, it'll become a norm.
Plus point: no need to think of which clothes to wear. Which one I have not repeated. Lol.
Team spirit. The way I see groups from other regions wearing full uniform in their get together, in my heart it went, "Wow! Look at them, so united, so strong".
Even if you don't feel the team spirit, by wearing uniform and seeing everyone is, actually brings up each and everyone's spirit too.
I don't know about you, but myself, I have to agree that it sure looks good when everyone is in sync, so it wasn't really the matter of you as an individual want it or not. Well, at least start with wearing the uniform in the room for 1.5hours ^_^
I too do that sometimes, taking off the moment back to car as I have other date night to go to ^_*
Also a note to ponder.. I have once went without wearing a uniform and ended up being a photographer for group photos and the feeling of not able to be in the picture. So devastating. From then onwards I always leave a spare T shirt in car for just in case. Call me kiasu or whatever,  I don't want to miss another chance. *Sometimes if you are lucky, your pretty face appears in the yearly planner too!♡
It was almost like the Superheroes. You can wear your daily clothes and be yourself and when you are doing something serious, a uniform can save your day when you are at work. For me, it's easy. When uniform is on.. I'm working and I'm serious about it ;) Otherwise I'm off.. we are only friends playing cooking together ^_^
